Our Sauvignon Blanc has classic tropical fruit flavours, with a clean and crisp finish.
Sauvignon Blanc is the most-widely known wine from the Marlborough region. The first Sauvignon Blanc vines were planted in the 1970’s, and since then they have become a revelation in the wine industry, lauded around the world for their refreshing, easy to drink nature. DRIFT Sauvignon Blanc is a classic example of the style, showing ripe tropical fruit balanced with a crisp and elegant finish, which can be enjoyed as an aperitif or matched with fresh seafood. MEMORABLE.
The Awatere Valley of Marlborough has a unique character, shaped by strong coastal winds, low rainfall, intense sunshine and cool nights. Vines enduring these conditions produce vibrant, intensely flavoured wine with a distinctive mineral character. In all, over 70 individual parcels of Sauvignon Blanc were harvested from the vineyards in this unique region, with fruit sourced predominately from 5 different blocks. After the low-yielding 2010 vintage, 2011 produced good yields with excellent intensity of flavour courtesy of healthy winter rains and consistently warm weather in the lead up to harvest.
The parcels of Sauvignon Blanc fruit were fermented individually, with a long cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks ensuring optimal fruit characteristics were captured and maintained. Post fermentation the wines were racked off fine lees and left to settle. After a lengthy blending session to determine the ultimate blend, the wine was stabilised, filtered and bottled.
Distinctive to the Awatere Valley is the highly aromatic nose of ripe passionfruit, white peaches and guava. The palate is intense with flavours of passionfruit, ripe green melons and subtle dried herbs with lemon citrus acidity providing a refreshing finish. MEMORABLE.

“Quite characterful and well defined. The wine has good deep fruit. It is juicy and ripe with a dry herbal finish and very good length and it’s fine with the food too.”
